The Santa Fe Trestle Trail is somewhat of an undiscovered gem where the city meets the forest. Explore and profess your love at the Dallas Love Locks Bridge. Meander along the paved trails that venture past wetlands filled with waterfowl and other migrating birds. Sit down and ponder life right at the point where the Trinity River breaks free of it’s man-made channel and ventures into the wilds of the Trinity Forest.
The trail is short in length and close in proximity to downtown Dallas. The Cedars trailhead is located just beyond the legendary Longhorn Ballroom, where Riverfront Blvd ends. Visitors can drive or ride bicycles up the levy and into the floodplain where a small parking lot indicates the start of the trail.
The Oak Cliff Moore Park trailhead can be accessed by DART rail at the 8th and Corinth station. A small parking lot across 8th Street provides vehicular access to the trail and its accompanying Moore Park. Moore Park features a baseball field, a new pavillion, Trestle Trail access, a children’s playground and picnic tables all adjacent to Cedar Creek (which flows through the Dallas Zoo!).
